Lachung, Sikkim
Yumthang Valley, at 3,564m in North Sikkim, transforms into a breathtaking carpet of rhododendrons, primulas, and other alpine flowers from late March to May. The valley is flanked by snow-capped peaks with the Teesta River running through it, and the hot springs at Yume Samdong 24 km further north are accessible in summer. The sheer floral abundance against the Himalayan backdrop is unlike anywhere else in India.
