Pelling, Sikkim
Pelling, at 2,150m in West Sikkim, offers some of the most direct and dramatic views of Kanchenjunga (8,586m, the world's 3rd highest peak) from any town in India. The new Pelling Skywalk — a glass-floored bridge over a cliff — and the ancient Pemayangtse Monastery, Rabdentse ruins, and the Khecheopalri Lake create a rich photography environment. Clear mornings (October–November) reveal the full Himalayan panorama.
130 km from NJP station (4 hours by road via Geyzing). Helicopter service from Bagdogra available.
