Munnar, Kerala
Munnar's tea gardens cover the High Range hills of Kerala in unbroken emerald-green carpets from 1,450m to 2,695m elevation. The geometric rows of pruned tea bushes, the winding estate roads, and the Anamudi peak (South India's highest) create a visual landscape unlike anywhere else in India. Morning mist rising from the tea valleys and the sharp contrast of the red-laterite roads through the green carpet are iconic.
130 km from Kochi airport. Buses from Kochi (4 hours) and Madurai (4 hours).
