Nubra Valley, accessible via the world's highest motorable road at Khardung La (5,359m), is a unique high-altitude cold desert where sand dunes and Bactrian camels exist surrounded by snowy Karakoram peaks. The Hunder village sand dunes with camels against towering glaciated mountains create an extraordinary juxtaposition. The Diskit Monastery above the valley and the Shyok River valley below add to the visual wealth.
